22-05-2006

In order to keep everybody up to date of where we are and what we are doing, we will try to post an story in this log every week. The honour of writing the first log is mine. There are adventures to have and stories to tell, so I best get started.

It has been three and a half months now since we bought the Tecla. Small changes have been made to make her, even just a little bit, more ours. It is strange to walk through a ship and realize that she belongs to you, that you are now responsible for her well being, I must say, it feels good!

We have sailed with 6 different groups now. Varying from school kids to voluntary fireman and from people who have known the Tecla for some years to people who did not know the difference between a Tjalk and a Logger. And therein lays the challenge of our work. At the end of the week, weekend or midweek we hope to have given something extra to the knowledge and lives of every person who sails with us.

We have already had so many adventures I don’t know where to start- anchoring in a bay near Vlieland, racing in the race of the classics all the way to England and back, sailing round Texel on the North Sea side or maybe the storm of last weekend. Or it might be better to stay out of detail this time; otherwise this story is going to be VERY long!

So for now I leave you with the promise that we will write soon and give a more detailed description of our journeys!

Fair winds and royals all the way, and for those who do not know this phrase: I hope you keep well and prosperous.
