Gedichtje - Poem

Wij kregen tussen de kerstkaarten dit jaar ook een mooi gedichtje van een van onze gasten.

Varen, varen, God! laat me varen
Over de wijde, woeste zee;
Geef me stormen, geef me gevaren
En een meisjes zegen mee!

De lust om te varen begint bij ons ook wel weer een beetje te kriebelen. Alhoewel we nog heel wat werk te doen hebben, dormen we ook al wel weg bij de vooruitzichten van dit jaar!! With all the season greetings, we received a little poem from one of our passengers, it is in dutch but I will try to give a translation that suits it.

To sail, to sail, God! let me sail
over the broad, savage sea;
Give me storms, give me danger
And a sweet girl blessing me!

Our lust for sailing is becoming as big as discribed in this poem. We see the work we still have to do before we are readdy to sail out again, but we dream away with the prospect of al the journeys we are going to make this year!

In de Krant!!

Nou daar stonden we dan, Jannette en ik, in de krant met een foto!

Het was een interessante ochtend toen de journalist van het noord hollands dagblad, afdeling Den Helder, aan boord van de Tecla was. Als je op de foto klikt wordt hij groter.

There we where, Jannette and me in the newspaper with our picture!!

Ofcourse the text is Dutch, giving a summery of our conversation is a bit lame.. So I'll discribe the morning with the journalist and forget all the silly things we said and he wrote down..

It was cold on board, we had run out of petrole so the heating shut down. We let the gas stove burn to heat the living and told the journalist to keep his jacket on..! We started talking about the ship, why we bought it and what our intentions where. So Jannette and I, told him about our passion for traditional sailingvessels. We explained the way we work together and that we hope to sail a lot of races this year.

We talkes about the history of the family. How Jan and Jannette had met and where we lived before Jan and Jannette started sailing with the Aagtje.

And ofcourse we talked about the perfect place we had found in Den Helder to do the work we wanted to do and all the facilities that it offers!

Well thats about all. It was an interesting morning, I must say!

Tecla in het nieuwe jaar

Ook de Tecla is de jaarwisseling goed door gekomen en ook in het nieuwe jaar ligt zij er mooi bij. Gijs heeft ons inmiddels verlaten en vaart momenteel in het Caribisch gebied op de Stad Amsterdam als derde stuurman. Ik moet zeggen dat ik best wel jaloers op hem ben op dit moment!

Jan is bezig met wat klussen buiten de Tecla en daarnaast is hij bezig in de machinekamer. Jannette en ik zijn nog steeds bezig met de hutten. Ik moet zeggen dat het erg mooi wordt! Morgen komt er een journalist van de Den Helderse krant en gaat hij een stukje over ons schrijven. Ik denk dat dat in de loop van de week geplaatst zal worden. Ik zal proberen het stukje te bemachigen en in te scannen.

The new year has come and still the Tecla remains her beautifull self, how lucky are we!
Gijs has left us to sail on the Stad Amsterdam, he is currently sailing around the islands of the Caribic. And I am quite jealous!!

Jan is bussy with some jobs not concerning the Tecla and on board he is mainly working in the engine room. Jannette and I are working in the cabins still. They are turning out very well I must say! Tomorow a journalist from the Den Helder newspaper will come and visit us to write about our work in the winter. I expect the article some time this week. When it comes I will try to scan it and post it here, but it will be in dutch..
